Hill Country Memorial Hospital’s new Health, Hope, and Healing Cancer Resource Center (CRC) is rolling out a session for female cancer patients called “Look Good….Feel Better.”
Led by volunteers Ema Hernandez, a licensed cosmetologist, and Karen Kuhlman, a licensed cosmetology instructor, the two-hour session will be Tuesday, June 10, from 2-4 p.m. at the CRC which is located in the Brune Professional Building, 808 Reuben Street in Fredericksburg. The session will be repeated on the second Tuesday of each month.
Attendees will learn about makeup techniques, skin care and nail care, and they will explore options related to hair loss such a wigs, turbans and scarves. Each participant will receive a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. “Look Good…Feel Better” is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral program. Volunteers and program participants do not promote any cosmetic product line or manufacturer, and all cosmetics used in the group program have been donated.
Space is limited and reservations are necessary in order that the American Cancer Society can ship the right number of free makeup kits. The reservation number is 1-877-227-1618.
The free services of the Cancer Resource Center are designed to provide answers and help to those touched by cancer, either personally or through a friend or family member. For more information about the CRC, call Donna Lafferty at 830-990-6648.
