‘Tis the Season of Giving…
Wednesday, November 24, 2010 • Posted November 23, 2010

The Christmas Season will officially kick off on Friday, November 26. Are you looking for a way to “pay it forward” or “give back” or just simply get into the “Spirit of the Season?” Why not consider giving your money or time in your local community?

Tots Need Toys is a mission of Blanco United Methodist, which provides gifts to children in need who reside in the City of Blanco and surrounding rural area. We are in need of cash donations, toys, and volunteers. The request for assistance is greater this year than even in years past.

If you are out Christmas shopping, consider picking up an extra toy or board game. Simply drop off the gift at Blanco United Methodist or at several other local churches and businesses such as Super S and Dollar General, which have toy collection boxes.

If you do not enjoy shopping, consider writing a check to Tots Need Toys in care of Blanco United Methodist. Or you can even eat pizza! That’s right!!! The owners of our local Shell gas station, Sam and Zeena Lakhani, are going to donate cash for every 10" Hunt Pizza purchased at their location through Thursday, December 9. Simply mention you want to help Tots Need Toys, give the Lakhanis the UPC code off your pizza box, and they will make a donation! How easy is that? If you want to get rid of your spare change, consider dropping it into the jars located at your local convenience stores – Texaco, Shell, and Exxon stations.

If you don’t have any extra funds or you just enjoy wrapping presents, please come to distribution day. Tots Need Toys will begin distributing gifts on Saturday, December 11 at noon. If you are interested in volunteering, please arrive at 11:00am at Blanco United Methodist Church, 61 Pecan Street, Blanco. If you have any questions, please call 833-5030.

Come on, Blanco! Let’s get together and see that all the children in our area have a Merry Christmas.
