First Annual Turkey Bowl and Chili Cook-off
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 • Posted November 30, 2010

Two Blanco churches held the First Annual Turkey Bowl and Chili Cook-off on Saturday, November 20, at Panther Stadium. First Baptist Church, under the direction of their youth minister, Carlton Pridgen, came up with a great idea to have an annual Turkey Bowl football tournament. FBC invited Trinity Lutheran Church to join their youth and Jim Raby, youth director, added the idea of the Chili Cook-off. Together, they enjoyed a day of friendly competition, spicy food, and fellowship.

Leslie McClinton scored the winning touchdown for Trinity Tribe with a 50-yard kick-off return. The winning team consisted of T.J. R., Dylan T., Byron M., Talon C., Philip A., Merritt J., and Carey.

And now for the Chili Awards: Winning the “Heartiest” Chili was Steve Tamez; “Most Creative” chili went to Abby C. and Katherine B. who served “taco chili,” and, taking two awards, Allen Lieck won both “Best Overall” and “Hottest.”

Plans are already in the works for the Second Annual Turkey Bowl and Chili Cook-off, to which all Blanco County churches will be invited.
