Bruce Gilbert McKennis

Bruce Gilbert McKennis, 72, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2010 in Johnson City after a long illness. He was born in Chicago, IL to Charles McKennis and Ruth Finn. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Charles McKennis; sister, Charleen Bennett; father in law, Jim Davis; and niece, Robin Womack. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dee Dee McKennis; parents, Rev. William and Ruth Larson; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mack Cantwell; son and daughter –in-law, John and Donna McKennis; son, Stephen McKennis and son, Matt McKennis; eight grandchildren, Kacie and Logan Cantwell, Aaron and Joshua McKennis and Skylar, Bridgette, Isabelle and Jaxon McKennis. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Nola Davis and numerous relatives.

Bruce was a 35 year resident of Johnson City. He was a beloved husband, a treasured father, and “Poppy” to his grandchildren and many others. He was a successful local business owner who always had a kind word to say and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He loved being with his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest joys in life. He will be missed greatly by all of them.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, December 3, 2010 at Crofts Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Davis Family Cemetery, 1377 RR 3232, Johnson City.
