I Cannot Imagine

During the ministry of Jesus some said, "When the Christ shall come, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He" (John 7:31)? Jesus provided abundant evidence that He was indeed the Christ spoken of in Old Testament scripture. Despite the ridicule and objections of the religious leaders many believed in Him. When it came down to it, they just couldn't imagine that anyone could do more than what Jesus was doing. His healing of the lepers, the blind, the lame, the feeding of the multitude with so little, and even His teaching was with such great authority, wisdom and understanding that the people were in awe (Luke 2:46-47; Matthew 7:28-29).

I cannot imagine that there is greater love than the love of our Savior. As the word says, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). Indeed His love and sacrifice for us is unequaled. The tears He wept, the stripes He bore and the blood He shed, even when so many lived in sin and rebelled against His will, tells us of a great love. Jesus saves. None ever loved us more or ever will.

I cannot imagine that blessings can get any better than what they are in Christ. As Paul said, God has "blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ..." (Ephesians 1:3). The forgiveness of all sins and the hope of the resurrection are to be found in the Lord Jesus Christ. In Him we rejoice. He makes all things in this life bearable. He gives the light of life.

I cannot imagine that the Bible can be matched in providing all that we need for life pleasing to the Lord. Paul said, "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good word" (II Timothy 3:16-17). The words of its precious pages provide comfort, strength, hope and counsel for every relationship and problem we encounter.
