Panthers Post Strong Win Over San Antonio Lutheran

The Panther basketball team toppled San Antonio Lutheran, 61-46, on November 30. Four Panthers scored in double digits for the victory. Ian Ray scorched the nets for 18 points, followed closely by Clayton Green with 14. Austin Carrola added 12 and Sam Isenberg sank 10 points. Zach Barnes shot for 6 and Tanner Rogers made 3. Carrola led the team with 11 rebounds.

On Thursday, December 2, the Panthers played the Jarrell Cougars in the first round of the Johnson City Invitational Tournament. Previously undefeated, Blanco lost 63-36 to state-ranked Jarrell. The Cougars jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and the Panthers were not able to rally a comeback. Tanner Rogers led the Panthers with 12 points. Austin Carrola contributed 8 points and 11 rebounds, and Zach Barnes added 6 points.

Blanco faced the Center Point Pirates in the next round on Friday. The Panthers overwhelmed the Pirates 64-37. Austin Carrola blazed the hoops with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tanner Rogers added 14 points, while Zach Barnes and Clayton Green each scored 8.

With the victory over Center Point, the Panthers next encountered the Pirates of Poth in the consolation final and endured a tough 45-28 loss. Carrola fought for 11 points and 12 rebounds. Rogers added 9 points and Barnes and Ray snagged 6 rebounds each.

Blanco played the Austin Royals on December 7 and will next travel to Canyon Lake for a tournament on December 10. They will face the Canyon Lake JV team at 9:00am and the Llano Yellowjackets at 12 noon.

Lady Panthers Crush San Antonio Lutheran

On November 30, the Lady Panthers rumbled over San Antonio Lutheran with a 67-31 victory. Kayla Martinez led the team with 18 points. Leslie McClinton added 12 points and Felicia Skillman scored 11, while Susannah Campbell and Micaela Klein each added 8. Lindsey Jenkins had 7 points and Justine Cooley had 2. Elise Edmondson dropped in a free throw for 1 point.

The team next traveled to Johnson City for the Invitational Tournament on December 2. The Panthers leveled the Florence Lady Buffaloes 40-25. Leading scorer was Micaela Klein with 11 points. Felicia Skillman added 9 points and Leslie McClinton made 8. The Panthers battled Johnson City in the next round, losing a close game, 40-37. Klein and McClinton each scored 11 points, while Jenkins added 6 and Martinez made 5 points. On Saturday, the team met the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks in the game for third place. In another close match-up, the Panthers sealed the victory, 42-40. McClinton hit the hoops for 14 points, Jenkins and Klein posted 9 points each, and Skillman added 7. McClinton led the team with 12 rebounds, and Jenkins and McClinton tallied 7 steals each. The win gave the Panthers the 3rd place trophy. Leslie McClinton and Lindsey Jenkins were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Panthers took on the Randolph Ro-Hawks on December 7. On Thursday, December 9, they will play in the Canyon Lake Tournament. The ladies will face Somerset at 1:30pm and Industrial Vanderbilt at 4:30pm.
