Blanco Remembers Pearl Harbor

In August of 1994, the United States Congress passed legislation designating December 7 of each year as national Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The legislation also directed the flag to be flown at half staff until sunset. On Tuesday, December 7, at 8:00am, members of Blanco County’s American Legion Memorial Highway Post 352 stood at attention in near freezing weather as taps was sounded and the flag flown in front of the Old Blanco County Courthouse was lowered to half staff. The American Legion color guard returned at sunset and raised the flag back to the staff’s peak.
