Panthers Rip the Royals

The Panthers scored a 65-50 victory over the Austin Royals on Tuesday, December 7. The Panthers led 37-24 at the half-time break, stretching the lead by 17 points in the third quarter. Lighting up the nets for Blanco were Austin Carrola with 17 points and Ian Ray with 16. Tanner Rogers and Colton Childress each pumped in 8 points, while Zach Barnes added 7. Sam Isenberg scored 5 points and Clayton Green and Tyler Noah each made 2 points. Barnes also snagged 15 rebounds for the Panthers.

The Junior Varsity also recorded a win over the Royals, 40-26. TJ Hardin led the squad with 17 points. Hardin nailed five three-pointers. David Ramirez sank 9 points with Kyle Sauceda and Chad Marshall scoring 4 each. Dakota Perkins and Will Byler each contributed 2 points.

On Friday, the Panthers played in the Canyon Lake High School Tournament. In the first round, the Panthers defeated the Canyon Lake Junior Varsity 45-42. Zach Barnes and Austin Carrola paced the team with 10 points each, and Clayton Green dropped in 7. In the next round, Blanco faced a tough Llano team, falling 47-72. Carrola scored 13 points and Rogers added 12. Green and Ray each shot 6 points.

On Saturday, the Panthers lost another round to Rouse High School of Leander with a final score of 21-68. Carrola and Barnes tallied 5 points each and Childress made 4. In the final round of tournament play, the Panthers rallied for a solid 59-55 win over the Canyon Lake Hawks. Barnes and Rogers led the team with 12 points each, while Carrola and Isenberg both scored 10 points. Barnes grabbed 12 rebounds and Carrola snagged 10. Barnes and Rogers were selected for All-Tournament honors.

The Panthers played the Randolph Ro-Hawks on December 14 and will also play in the Medina Tournament December 16-18. Results from both will be available next week.
