Ara Jones was born April 1, 1929, in Blanco, Texas. She departed this life on December 11, 2010.

She received her education at Peyton Colony School. She worked at the Mills Nursing Center in Blanco for 30 years.

Loved by many of Blanco, she was preceded in death by her father, Jack Jackson, and mother, Alvida Jackson; a son, Stewart Jones; three brothers Thomas Jackson, Oscar Jackson, and George Jackson; two sisters, Annie Lee Nichols and Winora Coffee.

Ara is survived by her children, Clarence Jackson, William City, and Patricia Alexander, all of Austin; Leo City of Denver, CO; Barbara Booe and Racheal Jones of Blanco; Mike Jones of Llano; Brenda Monroe of Dale; one brother, Mike Jackson, of Victoria; one sister, Joyce Jones, and one aunt, Isodora Yett, both of Blanco; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and special friends Gracey Romero, Nellie Upshaw, and Pete Garcia.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 1:00pm at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Blanco. Pallbearers were Charles Richardson, Levi Jones, Derek Jones, Jack Sanchez, Cyndy Wagner, and David Gibbons. Honorary pallbearers were Pete Garcia, Clifford Richardson, Robert Jones, Wray Coffee, and Gary Jones. Burial followed the funeral service at the Peyton Colony Cemetery in Blanco. Funeral services provided by Crofts Funeral Home.
