Wednesday, December 22, 2010 • Posted December 21, 2010

The American Legion Auxiliary held the third annual Christmas Party for Children on Saturday December 18. The party is for the children (high school and younger) of relatives of veterans and military personnel.

Enjoying the festivities were relatives of Robert Fickle, Uncle Robert Jones with Grant, Veronica Jones (sister in military) holding baby Scout. Christine and Bruce Huguelet are pictured with granddaughter Carolyn Carnes holding Herman Ubalde and great-granddaughter Torrance Carnes in the front. Santa of course was the star attraction. Next to Santa was Levi Hilterbrant with his son Tanner and daughter Sydney. Levi’s Mom, Ellen Keller is behind Mrs. Claus (Roxie Avants). Amaya Alaniz, in front, is the granddaughter of Tom and Roxie Avants. Also attending but not pictured were Donnea Simon and her grandchildren Joshua and Emily Robedo and Eric Sotelo.

Each child received a gift, a card with a brand new $5 bill and a stocking with their name on it from Santa. They will also receive a CD with the photos taken with Santa. The food was donated by the ladies of the Auxiliary and gifts were donated by members of both the Post and the Unit. Jimmy Jacks took all the pictures, donating his time and expertise. We also collected $120 in donations, half to support Thomas Broyles’s troop in Afghanistan and half to go to our scholarship fund for Blanco High School.

As Tiny Tim said, “God bless us, everyone.”
