Panthers Shoot Down the Eagles

The Blanco JV Panthers took on the Junction Eagles on Thursday, October 25 to take a victory with a final score 22-14.

The Panthers began with a kickoff return by Corey Dowlearn who ran for a 20 yard return, but the Panthers did not stop there, they continued to move the ball down the field.

Travis McClinton threw an eight yard pass to Kyle Holmes , who ran another eight yards for a Panther touchdown.

The next play was a hand off from McClinton to Dowlearn who attempted to run the ball in for the two point conversion but was stopped. The score was 6-0 with 5:28 left on the clock still in the first quarter.

About three minutes later, the Eagles scored their first touchdown and their two point conversion was good making the score Blanco 6, Junction 8.

The quarter ended as McClinton made a 10 yard pass to Austin Deshane who ran the ball for 13 yards as the buzzer went off to end the quarter.

The Panthers started working their way down the field as McClinton passed a 15 yard pass to DeShane who ran the ball for another 15 yards.

The Panthers then recovered their own fumble to keep the ball. McClinton passed the ball to Dowlearn with 7:05 on the clock. The Panthers found the end zone once again, making the score 12-8. The hand off from McClinton to Holmes was successful and so was the two point conversion the score was now 14-8.

Ethan Evans sacked the quarter back on the second Eagle down with a loss of about five yard. The next play consisted of Keyton Dodd who tipped the pass to make the Eagle third down an incomplete pass.

Junction finally found the end zone with 3:02 on the clock making the score 14-14. The Panthers held the Eagles out of the end zone for the two point conversion. Leaving the score at 14-14 as they went into halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive quarter on both sides of the ball. The Panthers managed to sack the Eagles quarter back twice and Kevin Vizcaino recovered a fumble. The score remained 14-14 as the quarter came to an end.

The fourth quarter started with the Eagles receiving over 20 yards in penalties, the Panthers moved the ball down the field but it was not enough to get into the end zone. Austin Carrola punted the ball over the Eagles.

With 3:12 left on the play clock McClinton passed the ball to Holmes who ran for 56 yards for touchdown and Dowlearn ran the ball in for the two points making the score 22-14.

The Panthers held the Eagles on the nine yard line, to end the game with a final score Blanco 22, Junction 14.

The Panthers will travel to Sonora on Thursday, November 1, game time is scheduled for 6:30.
