Panthers Start New Year With Double Wins

The Lady Panthers began the new year with a decisive 50-16 victory over Fredericksburg Heritage on Monday, January 3. Blanco used a smothering full-court press to win by a 34-point margin. Kayla Martinez led the Panthers with 12 points, followed by Micaela Klein with 10. Abbey Weaver shot for 9, while Justine Cooley added 7 and Lindsey Jenkins, Meaghen Seales, and Susannah Campbell each added 4.

The Lady Panthers begin district play on January 7 in a home game against the Ingram Lady Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for the junior varsity team at 5:00 and the varsity match-up will follow.

The varsity boys posted their first 2011 win, outscoring Fredericksburg Heritage 48-34. The Panthers led 26-10 at half-time. Heritage rallied in the second half, pulling to within 5 points, but Blanco surged in the 4th quarter to regain the 16 point lead. Austin Carrola and Ian Ray set the pace for the Panthers, scoring 10 points each. Tanner Rogers added 9, while Matt Pepper scored 6. Clayton Green shot scored 5 points, with Sam Isenberg making 4, and James Perez and Tyler Noah each made 2.

The Panthers travel to Johnson City on Friday for a non-district clash with the Eagles. The junior varsity games start at 4:30 with varsity set for 7:30.

The junior varsity teams are hosting the Blanco JV tournament on January 6 and 8. The first round is scheduled to start at 2:00pm. Come on out and show your support!
