Blanco County Educators Luncheon Meeting Set for Thursday, January 20
Wednesday, January 12, 2011 • Posted January 11, 2011

The Blanco County Association of Retired Educators will begin an active new year with a luncheon meeting at the Uptown Blanco Restaurant in Blanco on Thursday, January 20 at 11:30am.

A non-partisan discussion from AARP Texas on the new Health Care Law will be the program. Also included in the informative presentation will be information on how to recognize and report Medicare fraud.

The Blanco County unit now has a membership of 57, an increase of ten new members over last year, the first year of reorganization. District XIII President Ruth Spear complimented the BCARE unit for the manner in which it effectively handles local unit business.

Local retirees are invited to join or renew membership in the BCARE unit by sending membership fees to the BCARE treasurer, Cindy Sultemeier, or by giving her a check at the meeting. If you have further questions, you may contact Cindy at 830.868.7290.

The Blanco County unit, BCARE, plans to offer a $500 scholarship to a student from Blanco County who is preparing to teach. If donations make it possible, the unit will offer more than one scholarship. Members can contribute to this worthwhile fund by sending checks in any amount to BCARE treasurer, Cindy Sultemeier, or by bringing their checks to the meeting.
