Two from Blanco Receive Degrees
June 7, 1968
Nelson J. Jonas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jonas of Blanco, received a Masters degree in mathematics from Southwest Texas State College on May 29.
Donald E. Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Rose of Blanco, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Texas.
Aluminum cans offered for trash service

Groups or individuals interested in obtaining aluminum cans for resale in exchange for cleaning up trash at the Jamboree this weekend are urged to immediately contact Chamber of Commerce president Bob Bendseil at 833-5808.
Trash service will be needed each morning Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Futures slate swimming party

The Future Farmers and Future Homemakers will have a summer swimming party Thursday evening June 15.
The bus will leave the school parking lot at 6:00 p.m.
Bring a towel and swimming clothes, no cut-offs are allowed. You need to also bring a note from your parent or guardian allowing you to swim.
Refreshments will be after the swim in the park. We will return on the school bus.
Rev. Chas. Miller Is Re-Assigned to Methodist Church

Rev, Charles A. Miller was re-assigned as pastor of the Blanco Methodist Church in the list released by Bishop Eugene Slater at the closing of the service of the 110th Annual meeting of the Conference, held in Austin, where some 600 delegates represented 117,812 Methodists in 76 counties in the 3 days of business sessions.
The Rev. Cecil A. Harvey was re-assigned to the Johnson City Walnut Church at the same time.
State Comptroller to be here July 27

The County - Representatives of the State Comptroller Department will be at the County Courthouse in Johnson City on July 27 from 9:00 a.m. until noon to help with any tax problems.
Anyone needing information prior to that time can call their San Antonio office at 824-7281.
This will be their regular visit following the end of each quarter.
Lions slate installation

Blanco - Sandy Early of the National Park Service at Johnson Settlement was the guest speaker at the Tuesday night meeting of the Blanco Lions Club.
Mrs. Early what was acclaimed as an extremely interesting talk with slide presentation of the Settlement in Johnson City.
Next meeting this month, June 20, will begin at 7:00 p.m. due to being both Ladies Night and installation of officers and will be held at the new fire station.
It will be a covered dish dinner.
Monsignor A.F. Droyd of Canyon Lake, the District Chaplain, will be the installation officer.
Hill Country Artists plan paint-a-long
June 9, 1978
Hill Country Artists will meet at the car wash in Blanco at 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 12.
From there they will drive to the Clifford Benson residence for a picnic and paint-a-long.
Bring your art supplies and a sack lunch.
Directions will be left at the car wash for those wishing to arrive later. Don’t miss this change to paint outside along the river.
HDC ladies plan for Fest

The Ranch Hi-Way Home demonstration club meeting was held in the home of Gladys Jones June 6. The hostesses were Ethel Casswell, Helen Fergeson and Inez Melene.
Reports were given form the delegates who attended the Council meetings and the reports from the last meeting which was a party at the Baptist Church honoring the carter and old-time members.
Several “thank you” notes from guest who attended the party were read.
