Vegetable Gardening Presentation by David Rodriguez, Bexar County Horticulturist

David Rodriguez, County Extension Agent-Horticulture for Texas AgriLife Extension Service-Bexar County will be making a presentation on Vegetable Gardening on February 1st beginning at 1:00 p.m. This presentation is part of the Blanco County Master Gardener 2011 Training Program but is open to the public. A donation of $5.00 would be appreciated to cover presentation costs.

Mr. Rodriguez has spent his entire life in Texas and has been involved in gardening since the age of four. He has a Master's Degree in Horticulture from Texas A&M and has over 30 years of experience in the Nursery/Landscaping business. He has worked for Grimm's, Wolfe's and Calloway's Nurseries and is a certified and Master Nursery Professional as well as a Licensed Pesticide Applicator. As Bexar County Extension Agent-Horticulturist, David is the Program Coordinator for the over 400 certified Master Gardeners in Bexar County.

David is co-host of the weekly “Garden” radio show, broadcast on San Antonio's WOAI Saturday's from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. He is also a regular contributor to the San Antonio Express-News, other local newspaper publications and the horticulture website “plantanswers.com”.

The presentation by Mr. Rodriguez will be from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday February 1st and will be held at the First Methodist Church of Johnson City. The church is located, just east of the County Courthouse Square in Johnson City. From Highway 290 (known as Main Street within the Town area) turn north on LBJ Drive, proceed 1 block and the church is on the left on the corner.
