Wednesday, June 11, 2008 • Posted June 10, 2008

On April 26, 2008, on behalf of 33 veterans buried at Round Mountain Cemetery in Round Mountain, the Highland Lakes Honor Guard provided military funeral honors with ceremonial flags, rifle salute, playing of TAPS, flag-folding ceremony and flag presentation to the next of kin. The Highland Lakes Honor Guard was officially Certified by the Department of Defense as an authorized provider of military funeral honors at the presentation in Round Mountain.

Rebecca Howerton tolled the bell after the reading of each veteran’s name and Winston Burnham received the flag after a beautiful folding presentation.

The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is a way to demonstrate our Nation's deep gratitude to those who have faithfully defended our country. This ceremonial paying of respect is the final demonstration a grateful nation can provide to the veteran's families.

The Highland Lakes Honor Guard is proud to render these services at no cost to the families of deceased veteran's.
