Keep Blanco Beautiful...

...that is what a small group of us are trying to do. We can certainly use more help!

I hope you enjoyed Bindseil Park during the holidays. The lights, the lighted trees and candles and the wooden scenes. We really worked hard to make it beautiful. It takes analysis, planning and then performing the work. Judy Dorsett drew up the plans for decorating and we achieved performing the plan with the help of the Leo’s group of the Lions Club and teacher Amy Petri brought her Family & Community Services class from Blanco High School. They were both a tremendous help. We hope to see them again next year!

There is still work to do after it is all in place. Retta Martin keeps the lights burning. Every night she checks to make sure the lights come on properly and then later to make sure they continue to be on. Lots of nights she makes several trips to the park. We were very happy to get the new electrical connections provided by the City. We hope to add more this next year to enable more lights and scenes as we strive to be on the Trail of Lights.

Our regular duties every Tuesday (and sometimes more) are to maintain the plants in the park and all the pots of plants on the east side of the Square (Pecan Street) and the City Hall flower beds. Even at this time of year, the park is really charming and lovely to walk thru or just sit and enjoy. Not many flowers are blooming right now, but it won’t be long before everything will be bursting out in bloom.

It takes lots of care to keep the grounds and pots of plants, which brings me to the following:

We need volunteers on Tuesday mornings from 9-11 (time varies). There is no age limit, male or female, and no experience necessary. Your pay will be the feeling of accomplishing beauty in Blanco on the Square and feeling proud of a job well done. If you are interested, please call Judy at 833-5663, Retta at 833-4720, or Pat at 833-1972.

We have a great teacher named Judy Dorsett. She is trained and very knowledgeable in the landscaping and and types of plants to be used. Judy is so dedicated to KBB you may see her watering plants on weekends or whenever needed.

Come on down and join us. You will be surprised how much fun you have and how your 2 to 3 hours work will help.
