Relay for Life Committee Attends Relay University
Wednesday, January 26, 2011 • Posted January 25, 2011

The 2011 Blanco County Relay for Life Committee attended Relay University in Austin on January 22. The Blanco committee members attending included Sylvia Romero, Tammy San Miguel, Sharon Cox, Fran Smith, Kelle Gombert, Cele Romero, and Joseph Romero. Relay University focused primarily on the 5-D Concept. The 5-D concept included development in the areas of leadership, teams, survivors, events, and fundraising.

This year, Relay University’s theme was “Relay Remodel.” The theme included emphasis on change and planning your Relay for the future. In keeping with the theme, Blanco’s committee decorated their table as a remodeling construction zone and emphasized the “HOPE” of someday helping to find a cure for cancer. The committee came back with many ideas and is looking forward to finalizing their 2011 development plan.

This year’s event will be held at the Blanco HS Football Field, on June 11, 2011, from 3:00pm to 3:00am. A Kick-Off Party will be held in February and a date will be announced soon. We look forward to community participation and a very successful event.
