Varsity Girls Lose in Overtime

The Lady Panthers lost a heartbreaker to the Harper Lady Horns on Tuesday, January 18; 48-49 in overtime. Blanco led 28-20 at halftime, but the game ended in regulation time with a 45-45 tie. The foul-ridden game ended in overtime with a one point loss for the Panthers.

Kayla Martinez scored 12 points to lead the Panthers. Justine Cooley made 9, with Leslie McClinton sinking 8. Micaela Klein added 7 points, while Lindsey Jenkins scored 6. Other Blanco scorers were Felicia Skillman, 3, Abbey Weaver, 2, and Meaghen Seales, 1.

Blanco starts their second round of district play at Junction on Tuesday, January 25 and at Ingram, Friday, January 28. The Panthers hold a 14-5 season record and a 3-1 District 8-AA record. With four games remaining in district match-ups, each game is important in the race for the playoffs.
