Wednesday, February 9, 2011 • Posted February 8, 2011

The calf scramble was held February 4, 2011 at the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo. 4-H and FFA youth competed for $800 certificates to purchase breeding animals to exhibit in the 2011 San Antonio Junior Livestock Show. Twelve certificates were awarded tonight to those who caught a calf.

Ryan E. of Blanco was one of the night’s winners. He is a 9th grader and is 14 years of age. Currently a member of Blanco FFA, he plans to purchase a breeding gilt with his certificate.

In pursuit of its mission “Helping Youth Today So That Agriculture Can Grow Tomorrow,” the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has committed more than $79 million to youth education since 1984.
