Ash Wednesday Service

We, the members and friends of New Hope Lutheran (ELCA) in Blanco, invite you to attend our annual Ash Wednesday Service of Healing and Holy Communion. The worship service will begin at 7:00pm on March 9, in our Sanctuary, located at the corner of 9th and Elm Streets in Blanco (the former All-Faiths Chapel building). Dress is very casual.

All persons, regardless of age, faith, denomination, or previous church experience, are welcome to come and share this special service. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the church season of Lent, the name given to recognize the forty days before the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Won’t you please join us for this quiet hour of worship and music? We would love to see you there.

First Christian to Host Formal Wear Exchange

The First Christian Church of Johnson City is hosting its Second Annual Formal Wear Exchange in April.

We are currently collecting for the exchange and will accept formal wear in great condition. If you’d like to recycle that beautiful dress, tuxedo, jacket or suit that you won’t wear again and make room in your closet – please bring your formal wear, shoes and accessories to the First Christian Church on March 5 or 19 between 9am and 12 noon. We are located at 401 E. 6th Street in Johnson City.

Just like last year’s exchange, there is no charge for items selected and items are not required to be returned.

Several dates in April have been set aside for the exchange, so mark your calendars for April 2, 9 and 16. Come to the First Christian Church to select formal wear for your next school function.

Healing Mass At Good Shepherd Catholic Church

Healing Needs? Father Justin Udomah will hold a Healing Mass on Friday, March 4, 6:00pm, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Regardless of the need; Personal, Mental, Spiritual or Physical, bring it to the Lord for healing. If you know someone suffering from addiction, this Mass will open the gates to relieve their bondage! Bring that person with you or urge them to come.

If you have never attended a healing Mass you are missing a powerful message and visit with the Lord. We welcome all church denominations to attend. Everyone is invited to come and we urge the youth to attend.

Walk Thru the Bible Instructor Announced

Dino Maisano will be the instructor for Walk Thru the Bible – The New Testament to be hosted by Blanco United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 5, 9:00am – 4:00pm. He will present a fun-filled, action-paced seminar that helps attendees to reconnect with the biblical characters, geographical movements in history and the message and meaning of scripture – scripture that is as relevant today as when it was written.

Maisano has been an associate instructor with Walk Thru the Bible since 2002 teaching both adult and children’s seminars throughout the state of Texas. He has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Bible and Ministry from Abilene Christian University.

After working with all age groups for over 14 years as an Associate Pastor in Southern California, Maisano re-located to the Texas Hill Country in 2004 and now serves as the Campus Administrator for an active senior living Christian retirement community in Burnet (The Woodlands at Burnet) with Baptist Memorials Ministries. Maisano and his wife, DeAnne, live in Burnett with their six children.

The seminar is open to all over the age of 10 years wanting to learn or rediscover the New Testament. For more information go to www.blancoumc.org or call the Blanco United Methodist Church office at 830-833-5030. $20 covers materials and lunch. Daycare is not provided.
