On Friday, February 25, 2011, three mature live oak trees were planted in the Uptown Blanco Courtyard. Traffic was detoured around the 500 block of 4th Street as a 560-foot crane lifted the trees off flat bed trucks, hoisted them over the wall, and planted them in holes dug in the courtyard. According to the crane operator, one tree weighed 22,000 pounds.

“It was truly amazing to watch those three live oak trees lifted over the gazebo and into their new homes,” said Uptown Blanco owner Renee Benson.

The next event in the courtyard will be the Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday, March 5.
