Since 1991, Blanco United Methodist Church has awarded scholarships to deserving Blanco community students who seek to further their education after high school. More than $65,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 108 students.

Before applying for 2011 scholarship consideration, a potential applicant must meet four requirements: 1) be a graduating senior, 2) be active in BUMC or another church, 3) have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and 4) plan to attend a four-year college, a community college, or a certified technical school.

Beginning March 9, application packets are available in the BUMC church office from Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Applications can be downloaded from the church website as well. The deadline for returning fully completed applications to the BUMC church office is Thursday, April 7 by 3 p.m. No late applications will be accepted.

Interested seniors are invited to attend an optional information session in the BUMC office on Sunday, March 27, at 9:45 a.m. for assistance in completing the application correctly. BUMC also welcomes parents of interested students to attend the meeting.
