Blanco Blue Bikes Well-Used, Need Repairs
Wednesday, November 7, 2007 • Posted November 6, 2007

Thank you, Blue Bike Riders, for having fun and checking out the blue bikes!

The Blanco Blue Bikes have had quite the workouts with many of the bikes returned to the shop for some hardcore repairs. Jeff Renard, Bike Mechanic and Teacher for Bike Repair classes, nodded as I expressed sadness that the bikes were not being treated with more respect. He said, “Ah, they only hit a curb—just kids having fun!”

Jeff fixed the bikes already—and will do it again—pleased the local children are having so much fun! And, yes, knowing the bikes can be repaired, and are a great way for some to learn about boundaries. I trust the bikes were broken out of fun and not malice. What a glorious feeling to see our local kids laughing, playing outside, and releasing the wonderful energy inside while exploring their boundaries in healthier ways.

Thank you, Jeff Renard, for donating almost every Saturday to the Blanco Blue Bike Project, teaching bike maintenance and repairing the recycled bikes.

Blanco Blue Bike Shop hours are Saturdays from 12:30PM until dark, at 2nd and Cherry streets. The lavender fence with a piece of bike hanging on it is the entry, and is also where bike donations can be left at any time.

Remember: if you are there to volunteer, you must sign a release of liability and puts it in the plastic on the door. Thanks!

Thank you, Blanco, for the bikes that continue to come in. RECYCLE!
