The blaze was confined to making a small hole in the wall although firemen were forced to tear out several from wall beams to keep it from spreading.
Firefighters said the blaze started on the outside wall of the vacant house, possible from a passer-by’s carelessly thrown cigarette.
Mrs. Wilma Bell, living on the other side of Elm, was the first to see the smoke and reported it the Houser’s immediately.
