Married June 12, 1948, Harvey Eugene Green and Mary Kathryn Jones became one. On Thursday, June 12, 2008, their 60th year together, a ceremony was conducted by Pastor Rusty Hicks of Blanco’s First Baptist Church, where Gene and Mary Kathryn renewed their wedding vows. Attending the small private ceremony were Deborah and Wayne Dworaczyk, daughter and son-in-law, Crissy, Torrey, Hunter and Brianna Toler, granddaughter, grandson-in-law,and great grandchildren, all of Blanco.

Mary wore her favorite beaded baby blue crepe suit and Gene wore her favorite colors as well, his dark blue suit and baby blue shirt and baby blue print tie. Mary’s second favorite color pink, was used to accent their attire and also the reception table. A heart shaped chocolate cake with chocolate and pink frosting, pink lemonade, chocolate covered strawberries and pink strawberry sugar wafers were served following the ceremony.

The ceremony took place in the Live Oak Medical Center, where Mary Kathryn is treated for Alzheimer’s. Gene and Mary Kathryn moved from Clarksdale, MS to Blanco, Texas in Dec. 2007, to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Wayne Dworaczyk. After making their move, Mary’s Alzheimer’s progressed quickly and required more attention than the family could give at home. In Feb. 2008, Mary moved into Live Oak Medical Center. One wish that Mary had before the AD began, was to renew her vows to her long time sweetheart and husband. Gene is well known at the center now, as he spends 6 or more hours daily with his wife, Mary Kathryn.

The couple have been members of Clarksdale Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS since 1948. They have 5 children, Dennis, Harvey, Deborah, Gary and Alan, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. We want to thank all the staff at Live Oak Medical Center for taking such good care of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Also, a very big thank you to Brother Hicks for the beautiful ceremony of this Unconditional Love. God bless you all.

Unconditional Love To Mary Kathryn

The raging storms of life,

will never seize to blow,

for the enemy of our souls,

like a lion, seeks to devour.

Yet, our love stands strong.

With Jesus in our midst, we overcome.

Our love was built upon Jesus, the Rock,

a firm foundation that shall not fall.

Christ is in the center of our marriage.

He keeps us tightly woven one to another.

When my heart is torn, gently He reminds me

of my commitment and leads my heart to you.

Through the years our love has strengthened.

I know deep in my heart that our love is secure.

What a treasure, even in the midst of disputes,

being aware that our love will never end.

That is what I want you to know on this day,

that no matter what, I will love you ceaselessly.

God has extended the gift of unconditional love.

I promise I will love and cherish you eternally

and pray God gives us many more years together.
