On May 29, 2008 an awards ceremony was held in Salado, Texas to honor the Volunteer of the Year, and CPS Worker of the Year at the Regional Meeting of Child Protection and Family Advocacy Boards in Texas. Johnson City’s own Diane Beagle, President of the Blanco County Child Protection and Family Advocacy Board won the Volunteer of the Year award.

She was selected from a field of over 31 counties. Blanco County had another winner. Teresa Greenburg, CPS Specialist won the CPS Staff of the Year award.

Bill Hernandez, President of the Regional Board stated that, “Diane Beagle, single handedly rebuilt the board after many years of struggle. Because of her determination and her effective efforts, the Blanco County Board now has representation for the entire area it serves.”

Mr. Hernandez went on to praise Teresa Greenburg for “her prompt response to Board Members questions and emails regarding the children in protective care and in foster care and also her devotion to these children, even going so far as to use her own vehicle to drive them for parental visits out of town.”

Bill Swiss, Vice President of the Blanco County Board, wrote the nominations and submitted them for consideration.

We are proud to have two such fine people who both represent and serve our community in such an outstanding manner.

We wish to add our appreciation on behalf of the children of Blanco County who need both their voice and their support.
