Sylvia Van de Loo entertained everyone at Live Oak Medical Center June 9th at 3pm with music from the 40’s. She mixed music of Rosemary Clooney along with telling the story of her life. She gave a very entertaining program.
Sylvia will return July 7th with her USO Show, bringing posters about WW II and movie stars of that era. She will be wearing her WAC uniform and will entertain us with more 40’s songs.
Everyone is invited to join us for this 1 hour program from 3 to 4pm.

Glen and Ruby Barnard of Blanco received a phone call from their grandson, Josh Brenner, who attends Texas State at San Marcos. He achieved a 4.0 grade average, which is a perfect score! Way to go, Josh!!! His grandparents are very proud of him (and so are we - a 4.0 is tough to get)!!!
In case nobody noticed, this past weekend was the Fourth Annual Blanco Lavender Festival. Even though it was hot, hot, hot, we had record crowds and have already had lots of vendors sign up to return next year. We have also had many phone calls telling us what a great time the callers had. There were a few glitches, but we will get it done right next year! Thanks so much and kudos to all the volunteers - if it hadn’t been for them and our steering committees (I am speaking for the Chamber of Commerce) as well as the great vendors, wineries, chefs, speakers at the courthouse, the Lion’s Club, and the awesome lavender farms/farmers, etc, etc, etc, we wouldn’t have made it. Thanks again to everybody!!! You all are so appreciated!! In case you missed the talks at the Byars Building, there are DVDs at the library of some of the participants. Ron Houston and Maggie Goodman will reprise their dramatic reading of the Blassingame shooting at the next Chamber of Commerce event, which is the Blanco Ranch Round-up (formerly Heritage Days) on September 26 and 27 at Yett park. We will also be having a big birthday party to celebrate Blanco County’s 150 birthday, with a cake and lots of other surprises. Come join us then.
Just to let you know, the cool stuff to do this summer is not in any way, shape, or form over yet - on June 21 there will be a Juneteenth Celebration at Peyton Colony. A reenactment of the settlement of Peyton Colony, tours of the school, dinner on the grounds, and lots of music!!! Please come out and join everybody - it is going to be one good time!!!
