Wednesday, November 7, 2007 • Posted November 6, 2007

From the Blanco County Master Gardeners Association

Please join the Blanco County Master Gardeners at their next meeting where the featured speaker will be Tim Thompson, Manager of the Garden Center at King Feed and Hardware in Wimberley.

After developing a genuine love of gardening in a family of gardeners, Tim Thompson supported his stint in college and graduate school at the University of North Texas working in nurseries. He has been involved with nearly every facet of the nursery industry over the past forty years.

He lives in Wimberley where he manages the garden center at King Feed and Hardware, writes a column for the Wimberley Valley News and Views, plays old cowboy and gospel music with The Box Canyon Boys, and regularly lectures on all things horticultural.

Tim will discuss the special challenges associated with gardening in the Texas Hill Country with special emphasis on “strategies for success”. He will be able to answer questions regarding soil conditions, plants suitable for Hill Country gardens, dealing with pests and predators and he will try to address any gardening and plant questions you may have.

The meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 at the Blanco County Library, located at 1118 Main Street, between 11th and 12th Streets. Parking is available behind the library.
