AUSTIN, TX – Third Base and Young Men’s Business League officially kick starts the summer this weekend, June 21st, 2008 with a fundraiser for the Austin Sunshine Camps. Third Base Downtown and YMBL will be hosting a charity poker tournament for 150-200 players on June 21, 2008 from 4p-10p. The money raised through solicited donations prior to and during the tournament will benefit the Austin Sunshine Camps. They are seeking support and participation from the community to reach or exceed their goal of $5,000 for the camps.

“The Austin Sunshine Camps serve over 1,000 at-risk and disadvantaged children every summer, and their year-round leadership and mentoring programs serve many more” said Jennifer Repass, Executive Director of Austin Sunshine Camps. “We are so grateful that YMBL teamed up with Third Base for these crucial fundraising events. We thrive solely on donations and wouldn’t be able to serve as many kids with out these generous events!”

The Austin Sunshine Camps are owned and operated by the Young Men’s Business League of Austin. Founded in 1928, the Camps seek to teach life skills, self confidence, trust and teamwork, all while providing outdoor fun through traditional activities like hiking, swimming, canoeing, and sports.

“We’re excited to host this charity event for the Sunshine Camps. As a member of the Young Men’s Business League I’ve seen firsthand the joy the camps bring to the kids who look forward every year to going out to the Zilker or Lake Travis camp for a week of their summer. I’m proud that our company can help support the camps in this way and I look forward to a great event,” said Brendan Puthoff, co-owner of Third Base.
