The 4th Lavender Festival has come and gone and thanks to the hard work of the Blanco Chamber of Commerce and all of the many volunteers it was a hugh success. I drove back into Blanco at 6:10 p. m. on Sunday afternoon so that I could help clean up and I was amazed. Most of the tents were down and gone and so was most of the trash. Thanks go to all of the volunteers who helped.
Did you notice all of the new flower pots full of beautiful plants? The planters on the north side of the square are full of beautiful flowers thanks to Blanco National Bank. Uptown Blanco has the sidewalk in and the windows painted with beautiful lavender plants. I would like to personally thank Renee Benson and all of her Uptown Blanco for working so hard to have the west side ready by the Lavender Festival.
It is so exciting to see what is happening to Historic Downtown Blanco. The courthouse landscaping plans and the streetscaping plans for the north, east and south side of the square continues to move forward. Because of the vision, hard work of those who love Blanco it is beautiful now.
Amy Petri and her Blanco High School Family Science Class is busy preparing to kick off the Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Litter Prevention Program in the fall. If you are a business owner in the Downtown area you will probably be hearing from Amy as that is where the pilot program for cigarette litter prevention will be. Please give Amy a lot of support for this project. It would be wonderful to walk around town or the shopping centers and not see nasty cigarette butts laying everywhere.
