Monday, June 16th at 10am the Jubilee Singers came to Live Oak Medical Center. Darlene Kiernan was at the piano, Betty Courtney played her violin and Judy Dorsett sang an hour of wonderful spiritual songs for all to enjoy. Come again ladies.
On June 25th the Lutheran Church hosted our Monthly Birthday Party at Live Oak Medical Center. Darlene Kiernan played the piano and Dorothy Dillon sang popular and well-loved songs while members of church, Activities Director Pauline Walker, and volunteer Doris Collins served Dorothy Trophy Cakes with ice cream and punch. Then gifts from the Blanco National Bank were passed out as everyone sang Happy Birthday.
James & Esther Dowlearn of Blanco celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 30th. Children, grandchildren & great grandchildren gathered from all over the world to help them celebrate. A trip was taken to Rockport, TX, the site of where they and their children used to spend a week or weekends when the children were growing up. Their oldest daughter, Sandra, and her husband, George, traveled from New Palestine, IN to help celebrate. Sandra’s children, James & Michele, attended with their children. James and his wife, Susan, traveled from Tucson, AZ with their two sons, Nick and Jake. Michele and her husband, Jorg, traveled from Dresden, Germany with their four sons, Jago, Lodei, Solen and Anoki. Their daughter, Melody, who lives in Oceanside, CA was not able to attend due to employment obligations. Melody has three sons, Jeff, Jake & Dennis. Their son, Doug, and his wife Andrea traveled with their two youngest children, Corey and Becca, from Blanco. Doug’s son, Brady, and his wife Beth traveled from San Antonio along with their two daughters, Addisyn and Cambry. Doug’s daughter, Jodi, and her husband, Donald, were unable to travel from Phoenix, AZ with their 6 children, DJ, Manny, Aarin, Bradyn, Chloe & Deavean.
The week was spent fishing, playing on the beach, sightseeing, playing ping pong and other games, along with just enjoying each others company. One evening was spent with a dinner at the Crab-N in Rockport. As James would say, “a great time was had by all”.
