Campers Get Back to Nature
Wednesday, July 2, 2008 • Posted July 1, 2008

A Nature Detectives Day Camp was held during the week of June 23 - 27.

Eleven campers ages 4 - 7 participated in the camp, which was carried out by Wildside Education, a local non-profit organization, in collaboration with the Blanco State Park and the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Campers spent each morning learning about nature and conservation through exploration, ecology games, stories, and crafts.

Through these activities campers learned about how all of nature is interconnected and how we can help to protect the environment and the natural processes upon which we depend.

The camp was coordinated by Barbara Dugaelby of Wildside Education, with assistance from Mary Alice Partain, interpretive ranger at the Blanco State Park, and Mike McClure, science teacher at Blanco Elementary.

Financial supporters of the camp included the LCRA United Employees Charity, Region 7 Office of Texas Parks and Wildife, Super S, Wal-Mart, and Brigham Insurance Agency.
