Linda E. Preiss, age 85 of Blanco, died Sunday, September 30, 2007. She was born January 26, 1922 at Spring Branch, Texas to Gustav and Alwine (Kuebel) Elbel. She married Martin A. Preiss, Jr. November 4, 1939 in New Braunfels. She retired after working at Mission Valley Mills.

Survivors include a daughter, Lula Mae Kanz and husband Albert Kanz, Jr. of Canyon Lake; a son, Bennie Lee Preiss and wife Karen of New Braunfels; son-in-law, Allen Hillert of Menard, Texas; 2 sisters, Cleora Hild and husband Cleburne of Marion, and Estella Kruse of New Braunfels; 1 brother, Guswin Elbel and wife Nancy of New Braunfels; sister-in-law, Lola Preiss of Blanco; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Martin A. Preiss, Jr., January 9, 1992, and by 3 daughters; Roma Linda Preiss, July 3, 1948; Frances Jane Hillert, July 5, 1985; and Mary Ann Ryder, May 20, 2007, and son-in-law, Lyndal Ryder, grandson, Michael Lux, 2 sisters, Elvira Klein and Irma Pinckney, and 1 brother-in-law, Marvin Klein.

Visitation will take place at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels from 8:00AM until 9:00PM Thursday, with the family present at the funeral home Thursday, 6:00PM until 8:00PM. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00PM Friday, October 5, 2007 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be given to the Blanco EMS & Fire Department or to First Protestant Church.
