July 13, 1988

Charles and Sharon Weaner proudly announce the birth of a son, Charles Joseph Weaner Jr. on May 27, 1988.

C.J. weighed 8 pounds and 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Also welcoming C.C. are grandparents Norman and Nancy Weaner and Bill and Lillian Walker and great grandmothers Mrs. Helen Schmidt and Mrs. Alta Wilson.

Dennis and Jonell Wesneski of Covina, California are happy to announce the arrival of their twin sons Jeffery Martin, 6 pounds 7 ounces and Jonathan Fogerty, 6 pounds 4 ounces.

They were born June 2 in the Methodist Hospital, California.

Proud grandparents are Martin and Irene Maenius of Blanco, and Willie and Madely Wesniski of Pomona, California.

Also welcoming the twins are three brothers, Brian, Sowell, Adam, and Brent Wesneski.

Young Homemakers Association Meets

July 12, 1968

The Blanco Chapter of Youth Homemakers held their regular monthly meeting July 8 in the elementary building.

A film about cancer, “If you only knew” was the program for the evening with Juanita Smith, local school nurse, as the speaker.

The danger signals of cancer were discussed. It was stressed that everyone should have a check up once a year.

Plans were made for the members who will attend the College Clinic in San Marcos on July 17 and 18.

Refreshments were served.

Allen Heimer promoted

July 14, 1978

Arlington – Allen Heimer has been promoted to president of Cobaloy Company of Arlington a division of Graham Magnetics, Incorporated, and also a vice president of Technology of Graham Magnetics, Inc.

Heimer received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering fro Texas A & M and his MBA degree from Southern Methodist University.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Heimer and a graduate of Blanco High School.

OEO Grant Announced

July 12, 1968

The Community Council of Comal and Blanco Counties will receive a $35,000 Office of Economic Opportunity Grant, according o Congressman Jake Pickle.

Pickle said the funds would help finance a Neighborhood Center to help low-income residence in the two counties during the next 16 months.

Youth baseball meeting set

July 14, 1978

Blanco – A special organizational meeting to make plans and elect officers for the next year’s summer youth baseball programs will be held Tuesday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Home Economics Cottage at Blanco High School.

This includes all programs under the Blanco Little League, which includes Minors, Peewees, Majors, Ponies, Babe Ruth, Girls Major and Girls Minor.

All league officers, coaches, umpires, parents and anyone interested in possibly working with the program next year is invited to attend.

“Although this is an early start, in order to build better programs for next yrar, we needed to get started now,” said secretary Linda Hunter.

Among items to be discussed are finances, possible expansion of the Tri-Cities League and the season schedule and tournaments.

Gospel Meeting

July 12, 1968

C.E. McGaughey, an internationally know evangelist, will fly to Blanco from Belfast, Ireland, where he is speaking in a great campaign, to begin a meeting here on Monday night, July 15th to continue through the 21st.

The signing will be conducted by Severne Smith of Blanco.

B.B. Gist and the entire church in Blanco extends a cordial invitations to everyone.
