LaMoyne was born to Orel Lee and Eula Veta Love Patterson on December 18, 1917 in the original family homestead located 5 ½ miles east of Benjamin. He graduated from Benjamin High School in 1935.

He attended West Texas Teacher’s College for two years then transferred to Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 1941, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture Education. He married Wilma Christine Mitchell on September 7, 1940 in Archer City. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2001. He taught vocational ag. at Mobettie, Texas for a term and also was an assistant county agent in Abilene. In 1943, the family moved to Johnson City, Texas where he served as Blanco County Agriculture Agent for 24 ½ years. He served in the United States Army for a few months in 1945, but was discharged from his post to return to work as a county agent. It was felt at the time, that his agricultural work was more important to the war effort than his service in the army. LaMoyne moved his family back to Benjamin in 1967 to assume responsibility of the Patterson Ranch until 1993.

He was very active in the Methodist Church both in Johnson City and Benjamin. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Benjamin School Board and the Farm Bureau for many years. He continued to support his Aggies to the end. He spent his later years going from one community social to another. Always finding time for coffee at the Munday Dairy Queen. He also made sure to check on the “old” folks at the Munday Nursing Home. He never met a stranger and never had a bad word to say about another. He loved his family, community and his Lord. He will be missed daily.
