Blanco Cowboy Church Saddle Series Champions
Wednesday, July 16, 2008 • Posted July 15, 2008

After sunset with cool southwest breezes blowing under a perfect Texas sky on Saturday night, July 12th, the Blanco Cowboy Church Saddle Series Team Roping Champions, Header Dennis Green and Heeler Tom Griedly were awarded their saddles by Jack Brooks.

Cowboys and Cowgirls came from miles around for weeks to qualify for the Saddle Series which required them to attend six of eight Thursday night worship services for qualification to rope.

By 6:30 p.m. the dust was settling on the arriving pickups and trailers, horses were saddled, and under the direction of Chuck Wagon cook, Beverly Corradini, cowboys and cowgirls enjoyed a delicious BBQ supper, followed by Pastor Frank Spillman opening the worship service with prayer; then everyone joined cowgirl singer, Jauny Keith in a song worshipping Jesus as Lord.

Tears began to flow as cowboy Jack Brooks gave his testimony as to how a renewed personal relationship with Jesus Christ has changed his life from darkness to Light and the power of his Mother's prayers in Jesus' Name. Cowgirl roping bookkeeper, Tori Sherrill, announced the roping orders after the draw and dust began to fly as horses were warmed up while the electric timer eye was put in place and tested; Ryon Krause mounted the flagman on "Old Dakota", steers were loaded in the chutes, spectator's settled on the porch and under the oak trees watching the action until the champion header and heeler times were announced.

Everyone traveled home excited about and anticipating the new Roping Series that would be announced soon.
