FFA Members Compete at Kendall County Classic
Wednesday, July 23, 2008 • Posted July 22, 2008

Several local FFA members spent this past weekend participating in the Kendall County Classic Prospect Steer Show in Boerne. Overall, five members of the Blanco FFA did very well.

Leading the way would be Katie Baker, as she exhibited the Champion Red Angus, along with a third place Santa Gertrudis. Kaleigh Anderson would also do well, taking home two second place ribbons with her Limousin and Maine Anjou steers, along with a fifth place ribbon in the Charolais division. Brothers Logan and Keaton Dodd would also take home ribbons in their first show, with Logan placing third in the American Breed Cross class and Keaton finishing fifth with a Chianina. Finally, Dustin Green would see his first time in the ring result in a fifth place ribbon in the Simbrah division.

These same students, along with several other local FFA members, will now begin preparations for several upcoming county fairs in the surrounding area. Students will be exhibiting steers, along with sheep, goats, and pigs with the purpose of gaining valuable experience and practice. Upcoming shows include: the Gillespie County Fair, the Blanco County Fair, the Kendall County Fair, and the Medina County Fair.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA and Blanco Jr. FFA are Jason and Felice Marek.
