July 21, 2008- The BHS Panther Band Flag Corps came home with the Grand Champion Trophy after being judged best in competition performance at their Dallas team clinic.

The five member troupe competed with other Texas high school flag teams achieving Superior ratings and winning a team “Rising Star” award in addition to grand prize. This is the second year in a row that the Panther Flag Corps has won Grand Champion and Director David Shirk continues to be proud of the team.

The team showed “great knowledge of the flag and worked together well as a team,” according to Director Shirk, “adding that they competed against several other strong flag corps groups.”

Co-Captains Katherine Foegelle and Melissa Connell excitedly reported on the experience saying that the team now has a wonderful beginning to the upcoming Panther Marching Band season.

“I thought that the camp brought out the best in everyone. It helped the team bond and understand how to maintain high standards in our performances,” said Connell.

“It was very educational,” agreed Foegelle, “and was a great experience for all who attended.”

“I thought that the camp was great,” said Shirk. “Our team competed well with all the schools, even those from the larger North Texas region and I was very proud of the way the team performed.”
