There’s still time select your favorite plant to enter in the Plant Exhibit at the Blanco County Fair. Entries are due on Thursday, August 14 and can be dropped off at the Exhibit Hall anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Judging will take place on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and the exhibits will be open for public display on Friday and Saturday.

There are age divisions for all exhibits at the fair: the Junior Division for ages 12 and under, the Teen Division for ages 13 – 18 and the Senior Division for ages 19 and older. As a reminder, the Flowers and Plants Exhibit categories are: Potted Plants, Cut Flower Arrangements, Hanging Baskets, Cacti, Dish Gardens, Terrariums, Floral Wreaths, Commercial Displays and Artificial Flower Arrangements.

The Blanco County Master Gardeners will be sponsoring an outdoor Texas Hill Country Native Plant demonstration garden in front of the Exhibit Hall during the fair. Come by and see some examples of trees, grasses, perennials and annuals that are native or well adapted to the Texas Hill Country. A handout will be available with information about each plant. You may also sign up for the Landscaping with Native Plants Workshop which will be held the following Tuesday, August 19 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Exhibit Hall at the Fairgrounds.

What better way to support your local county fair than to participate in it! For complete Exhibit Hall Rules or for any questions you have regarding fair exhibits contact Gretchen Sanders at the Texas AgriLIFE Service, Blanco County office at 830-868-7167.
