Nim’s Island

Keith

Nim’s Island is a fun film that was more kid friendly than I imagined.

Your kids will love this and if you’re in a light enough mood you’ll enjoy it, but it’s definitely geared towards a little younger audience.

I did hear that all the animal scenes were real and not computer generated. In the lizard’s case, that is quite an accomplishment if true (maybe snopes.com will know).

Watching it with your kids will cause them to love you more so I guess it’s worth it, but since mine’s not here yet, I remain on the fence with this one.

Nim’s Island is a cute movie starring Abigail Breslin from Little Miss Sunshine.

The base of the movie is a father and daughter who live on an island that no one else seems to know about and their adventures together.

One day Jack Russo (Gerard Butler), Nim’s father, goes out on an expedition to collect plankton specimens and gets caught in an unexpected storm and what starts out as free time at home alone for Nim soon turns to worry when she can not contact her dad.

Through her dad’s email account, Nim is able to contact her favorite author Alex Rover (Jodie Foster) and begs for her to come and help her on the island.

The only problem is Alex is just a wee bit crazy and does not voluntarily leave her apartment for any reason.

This adventurous movie is perfect for kids between the ages of 8-12; the characters are interesting and all of the animals are a lot of fun to watch!!

3 ½ paws for the kids, for me…2 paws.
