Several members of the Blanco FFA and Blanco Junior FFA took part in the 120th Annual Gillespie County Fair Steer Show this past weekend. Leading the way would be Kaleigh Anderson with her Reserve Champion Maine-Anjou steer. Kaleigh would also bring home two 3rd place ribbons from the Chianina and Limousin divisions. Also placing high was junior FFA member Logan Dodd, who would finish 1st with his light weight American Breed Cross steer. In addition to the success of these two individuals, several others from Blanco would also do well. Quaid Haack would place 2nd with both a Brahman and Simmental, while Keaton Dodd would finish 2nd in the middle weight Limousin class. Brothers Shelby and Spencer Moore would also place well taking 4th place ribbons in the American Breed Cross, Angus, and Limousin divisions, while also placing 5th in the Chianina class. Finally, Dustin Green would exhibit two steers placing 3rd in the light weight American Breed Cross class and 5th in the middle weight class of the same division.

Locally, many of these exhibitors, plus several others, will be competing this coming weekend at the annual Blanco County Fair. On Friday evening, students can compete in the meat goat and lamb shows, while Saturday will be the steer show. Following the local county fair in Johnson City, the Blanco FFA will see several members competing in the upcoming Kendall County and Medina County Fairs, in Boerne and Hondo respectively, in addition to several other jackpot shows in the area.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA and Blanco Junior FFA are Felice and Jason Marek.
