•Benefit Dance for Manuel Telles: Yett Park on Sat, Aug. 30th from 8p.m. - 1:00a.m. Music by La Movida Tropical, Movida DJ, & Los Pedernales. Admission: $10 per person (includes meal & beverage). Admission for children 15 & under are free.

•Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc. will be hosting a Volunteer Orientation at the Thousand Oaks branch of the Public Library on Saturday, September 6th, starting at 10:00 am. •The “Blanco County Republican Club” is reorganizing. The club will kick off with a “Meet the Candidates" meeting to be held at the PEC Auditorium in Johnson City on Sept. 9 at 7:00. •38th Annual Ladies State Chili Championship of Texas. Lady cooks from all over the state compete for the title and show teams entertain the crowd. The men are invited to flex their muscles and strut their stuff in the 1st Annual Open Barbeque. Games, vendors, music and more! Admission is FREE. Proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
