If you are single, and between the ages of 13 and 18, applications are now being accepted for the title of 2008 “Miss Teen Blanco County”! Miss Teen Blanco County will represent her county at the Miss Teen Texas Pageant to be held at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas April 11– 13, 2008. The young woman selected as “Miss Teen Blanco County” will become an ambassador from the Blanco County area and receive an official title and sash!

The 2007 Miss Teen Blanco County was Kaylin Jureczki of Johnson City.

The young lady crowned Miss Teen Texas will receive a scholarship and prize package valued at over $15,000 and the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2007 Miss Teen International Pageant. The American Heart Association and The United Way are the official charities of the Miss Teen Texas Pageant.

The current reigning “2007” Miss Teen Texas is Kari Beth Langbein of Comfort, Texas. As Miss Teen Texas, Kari Beth speaks to children and teens about “Peer Support: a Solution to Peer Pressure”. "I believe that the biggest challenge facing teens today is peer pressure." says Langbein. Kari Beth has partnered with The Young Life Organization to promote her cause (www.younglife.org). "As a teenager, I know what peer pressure feels like and just how powerful it can be." adds Langbein. "Even though I'm from a small town in the Texas Hill Country, every day I see proof that peer pressure affects the lives of our youth. Teenagers feel the overwhelming pressure to fit into a culture crowded with the noise and glare of media messages and peer expectations. There is no more relevant issue for teens today. My main goal is to help teenagers understand the effects of peer pressure and how to overcome them." says Kari Beth. "As Miss Teen Texas, I am in a position to be a positive influence and role model to teenagers. I have set, and reached goals, because I've been able to resist peer pressure. Now, I am able to speak to teenagers across the state, provide reassurance and let them know of the options and support systems available through the Young Life Program."

Teen contestants will compete in Personal Interview, Fitness Wear, Fun Fashion Wear and Evening Gown. (There is no talent or swimsuit competition!!!)
