Annual Wild Game Dinner Slated for October 4
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 • Posted September 9, 2008

Don’t miss this year’s Wild Game Dinner fundraiser October 4th in Johnson City at the Blanco County Show Barn beginning at 5:00 PM. Game Dinner tickets are available for $15.00 per person. Included in the price will be the best wild game you have ever eaten, $10 discount coupon to Sportsman’s Warehouse, door prize chance and dance until midnight to The Mike Clifford Band. Can’t beat that!

A limited number of reserved tables are available this year for $250, which includes 8 dinner tickets. Call Peggy, 830-833-5335, to check availability.

Raffle tickets are being sold for $5.00 (you do not have to be present to win). Generous local businesses and citizens have helped the Sale Committee accumulate 50 raffle items, including a “must see” variety of 16 rifles and shotguns, a Pelican kayak, and lots of hunting, fishing and camping gear. Their support makes it possible for the committee to raffle over $13,000 in items throughout the evening to numerous lucky individuals.

Those attending the dinner will be able to participate in the “Pick of the Raffle,” and also buy chances to win these one of a kind guns - a Browning Silver Hunter 12ga with patriotic airbrush design, Henry Lever Action with John Wayne airbrush design, and 2 Ruger Camo 10/22 22 Long Rifles (one with a Blanco Panther design and the other with the Johnson City Eagle!) These four 100 square raffle chances will only be sold during the dinner.

Wayne Salem, President of Salem’s Jewelry in Marble Falls, has donated a Lorenzo Green Amethyst necklace and matching earrings for the “Bauble in the Bubble”! Susan Whittington, owner of Suzy Q’s in Johnson City, has designed and donated special koozies to be given to everyone participating in the exciting new event. Also, Sportsman’s Warehouse employees will be on hand to sell chances for a rifle they will be donating to the Wild Game Dinner. The Silent Auction is always popular with the whole family, and Sale Committee members are working hard to make this year even better.

The evening would not be complete without the Live Auction. This year’s guns are a Browning Silver Hunter 12ga with UT airbrush design, Browning Silver Hunter 12ga with A&M airbrush design, CZ Redhead 20ga O/U, T/C Icon .243 Win, Remington VTR .223 Rem, Tikka Te 22-250, Leica Rangefinder and a Vital Impact Bow Package. You can also bid on a variety of hunts, including a 10 day South Africa Safari for 2 hunters.

Dinner and Raffle tickets may be purchased at K&C Supply, 4th Street Market, Blanco General, or NAPA Auto Parts in Blanco. In Johnson City go by Harvest House Farms, Ronnie’s BBQ, or Odiorne Feed. In Hye see Mike Buck at Hye Pipe & Feed. 4-H members and Johnson City FFA students are also selling tickets.

This “9th Annual Wild Game Dinner” promises to be a lot of fun and for a wonderful cause – supporting Blanco County youth at the stock show. Following the annual stock show in January, the Sale Committee has in the past added onto the auction prices, raising all livestock projects up to the average of their category. In just 8 years they have been able to put over $175,000 into the hands of Blanco County Youth.

The Sale Committee hopes that you will support their endeavor Oct. 4th. To get further information, or make a donation, please call 830-833-5335.
