BYFL JV Blue Panthers Sting Llano 25-0
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 • Posted September 9, 2008

The BYFL JV BBlue Panthers took the sting out of the Llano Yellow Jackets this past weekend beating them 25 – 0. The offense appeared a little intimidated by the size of the Llano Players during their first series of downs, but then they picked up and scored on each of their last three drives in the first half bringing the score 19 – 0 by half time. Halfback Ryan Ronces racked up over 100 yards in the first half with two TDs (and close to 200 for the day); the other touchdown came when Quarterback Jackson Fordyce threw a 10-yard pass to Split End Justin Williams; Williams out ran the Llano defense 55 yards for the score. Going into the second half, Ryan Ronces had another long run to cap the score at 25 – 0. Blanco’s JV Blue Panthers ran all over the Yellow Jackets with the help of Fullback Jordan Wagner. Wagner’s power running earned him almost 100 (hard) yards for the day. The success of the ground game was due in part by their offensive line: Center- Evan Bailey; Guards- Ian Kirkland and Griffin Weardon; Tackles- Hunter Riley and Ross Edwards; and Tight Ends- Kameron Martinez and Justin Requenes. Also contributing where Wide Receivers- John Adams, Mathew Ledesma, and Justin Williams, and Wingback- Chase Horton. Realizing the strength of their defense, JV Blue Head Coach Brad Phipps allowed others the opportunity run the ball including Hunter Riley, Brandon Phipps, and Ross Edwards. Coach Phipps stated that we did what we wanted to do…get a comfortable lead and then get as many players in as possible to test their skills in other positions and just have fun.

JV Blue’s defense was able to shut down Llano’s offense the whole game by allowing them only one first down. The leading tacklers included the whole Blanco Defense. It was too difficult to determine where credit should go for tackles because of the team’s tenacious gang tackling. The defense had two fumble recoveries. Gabe Guerrero jumped on one and Jacob Ruiz picked up another and ran it back 35 yards to set up Blanco’s next touchdown. Contributing to Blanco’s defensive efforts were Ryan Ronces, Jordan Wagner, Chase Horton, Jeremy Kindla, Justin Requenes, Kameron Martinez, Brandon Phipps, Hayden Calzoncit, Gabe Guerrero, Jacob Ruiz, Justin Williams, Ross Edwards, Hunter Riley, Ian Kirkland, Jackson Fordyce, Jordan Wagner, Griffin Weardon…

JV Blue’s next game will be back in Llano Saturday, September 13 to take on Marble Falls Purple. Go to www.blancoyouthfootball.com to get more information about all the Blanco Youth Football League teams and cheerleaders including scores, pictures, and standings.
