Wednesday, September 10, 2008 • Posted September 9, 2008

The Blanco Youth Football League’s varsity team opened season play against Llano on Saturday.

The Panthers received the opening kick and marched fifty-five yards downfield with hard running by Jake Breeding and Colton Elrod. The Panthers would punch in the first score and go up 7-0. Llano responded with a drive down to the Panther twenty, but the defense stiffened and Blanco took possession. A twenty yard pass to Andrew Burgess, followed by a twenty-four yard run by Aikman, got the Panthers into Llano territory. Ty Royce scored on a twenty-two yard reverse, putting Blanco up 13-0.

In the second half, great defense by Dylan Bates, Devlin Moore, and Dru Ramirez forced Llano to punt, and Blanco drove again into Llano territory. Llano recovered a Panther fumble and scored on a thirty yard run, narrowing the score 13-6 in the fourth. On the ensuing series, Aikman scored on a forty-five yard run, leaving the final score at 19-6. The Panthers take on Boerne this Saturday in Boerne at 3:30p.m.
