Wednesday, November 21, 2007 • Posted November 20, 2007

Herman and Mildred Riba celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 27th, at the Live Oak Medical Center in Blanco, where Mr. Riba is a resident. Hosting the celebration were their children - daughter, Patsy Lewis of Johnson City, and son, Joe D. Riba of Blanco.

The anniversary cake was a three-tier white confection accented with a bride and groom. A wedding picture of the young couple also adorned the table.

Herman, son of Joe and Sophia Riba, and Mildred, daughter of Oscar and Olivia Heckel, were married October 27, 1937 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Honey Creek, Texas. They are lifelong residents of Blanco where Mr. Riba farmed and ranched and Mrs. Riba was a homemaker, LVN nurse and at one time owned Mill Nursing Home in Blanco. In addition to their two children, they have seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, with many of them attending the wedding anniversary celebration along with other family members, close friends and nursing home residents.
