Panthers Strangle Mustangs
Wednesday, October 3, 2007 • Posted October 2, 2007

The BYFL’s JV Gold team faced the unbeaten Marble Falls Purple team at home on Saturday, and the defense was on fire. The Mustangs would pick up their only first down on a 12 yard run in their first series, but Trent Dechert would cause a fumble recovered by the Panthers to stop the drive. The Panthers would control the clock the entire game, with hard running by Tyler Lyons, Ryan Ronces, and Colton Elrod scoring on a 14 yard sweep. The conversion attempt was stopped, and at halftime the Panthers led 6-0. The second half would be an even stouter defense, with Colton Elrod recording 5 solo tackles for negative 23 yards, and John Hodge would make a superb solo tackle for a five yard loss on a fourth down attempt. Justin Williams, Ty Gathright, and Aaron Uballe would guard the secondary, with the Mustangs 0 for 3 on pass attempts. Overall the Mustangs were held to 1 first down, and negative 3 yards of offense on the day. The Panthers offensive line of Ross Edwards, Ryan Bible, Gus Martinez, Brady Williamson, Tray Hodge, and Andrew Burgess would do a great job of opening holes throughout the game, allowing the Panthers to control the game. The JV Gold team improved its record to 3-1, and will face the Dripping Springs P team this Saturday in Dripping Springs. Special thanks to Dirt Works for setting up the Panther tunnel for all Blanco teams, the kids loved it and were fired up all day!
