"..... I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Mt. 28:20 (in part)
Jesus said in John 4:24 - "24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Paul said in Ephesians 4:3-6 - " 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all."
Paul also said in Galatians 3:26-29 - "26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you."
God's Spirit within us speaks so softly, and He's easy to ignore; and when we do, we suffer the consequences and say things like "I knew I should have ..." or "I flunked again!" I was tested and flunked again! That's what I was saying this weekend, and my son reminded me that Jesus is interceding for us, and we are forgiven, and God knows our hearts, and I should not allow the devil to trick me into feeling condemned for making another mistake, because we will make mistakes. We just need to review the circumstances, see where we failed, what caused us to err, and learn from it.
For me, I see that I was putting other things before the Lord, by not reading my scriptures when I normally do, because there was "too much to get done" to prepare for a visiting church this past Sunday, and trying to make home made Christmas presents! Truth be known, in my mind, the devil tricked me into thinking that God knows I'm trying to make others happy, and He knows I have to do these things at the church, etc. Wrong! Because so far, I haven't found a place in my bible where it says there are special circumstances for putting other things before the importance of God. The Word says to seek Him first, and that He is a jealous God, and we are not to put other "idols" on the front row of our attention. That's focusing on things that are seen, earthly things, and we need to focus on things that are unseen, heavenly things. (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Jesus said in John 14: 26 "But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."
Jesus also said in John 14: 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. 19 Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. 20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
